Can you make pancakes with oat milk?

Of course you can make pancakes with oat milk! Honestly, you can make pancakes with any type of milk, and even water. I personally like using oat milk in pancakes because I can quickly make it homemade as part of my pancake batter process. I have four boys, including two toddlers, who happen to drink A LOT of almond milk. Unfortunately, they refuse to drink homemade plant milk and using homemade oat milk in pancakes is one way that I can conserve our store-bought almond milk stash.

What type of oat milk can I use for oat milk pancakes?

As mentioned, this pancake recipe calls for any type of oat milk. If purchasing store bought milk, some good options are Oatly, Planet Oat, Califia Farms Oatmilk, Chobani Oatmilk, and Oat Malk. The brand selection will not make a difference in how this recipe turns out. I prefer to make my own oat milk! It’s very easy to do, and really does not add more than a minute or two of prep time to your pancake making adventure. Check out this easy two ingredient oat milk recipe here.

Why should you make pancakes with oat milk?

Making pancakes with oat milk is a great way to add vitamins, minerals, and fiber to your dish. Believe it or not, most humans are lactose intolerant, meaning it is hard for our bodies to digest cow’s milk. Dairy contains saturated fat, cholesterol, and is linked to an increased risk of certain cancers. If you’re new to consuming plant based milk, making pancakes with oat milk is a great place to start.

Do sugar free pancakes taste okay?

Sugar free pancakes taste way better than okay. They taste phenomenal! Out of this world even. I do not recommend using heavily manufactured sugar replacements in making your recipes sugar free. Store bought sugar replacements tend to have a strong, odd flavor and do not compliment this pancake recipe. Natural sugars such as dates, bananas, maple syrup and honey are readily available, so let’s not overcomplicate it with science here. Instead of sugar, we will create date paste with dates and water in the blender.
