Peloton Studios NY: tips for your visit

You’re in! You successfully booked a live class at Peloton Studios NY, and you are headed to NYC. Or maybe you are not attending a live class, but still want to stop by (you can!). What can you expect while visiting Peloton Studios? Here’s a list of FAQ and tips to help you navigate your visit to PSNY.

First and foremost, Peloton Studios NY is located at 370 10th Ave, New York, NY 10001. This is the address you’ll want to reference when arriving for a live class.

How to visit Peloton Studios NY without a class reservation

If you do not have a live class reservation, you can still visit the retail space which is connected to the studios at PSNY. The address for the retail showroom is 450 West 33rd Street, New York, NY 10001. You will not be permitted to tour the studio area. However, it is still fun to browse apparel and get a general feel for the high energy of the studio itself. Who knows, you may spot an instructor passing through!

If you happen to have some extra time on your hands when you go, line up your visit to be approximately 1 hour in advance of an upcoming live class. Be ready with either workout gear on, or bring a change of clothes with you. Upon arrival, let the retail concierge know that you would like to be placed on the standby waitlist for XYZ class.

The concierge will likely send you downstairs to be checked in. If someone does not show up for their spot and the waitlist spots also do not show, you will be admitted into class! The likelihood of this happening is lower, however it is possible depending on the day. You will need to have your ID and a valid form of payment ready to be admitted into class.

Plan ahead for your arrival time

Peloton Studios NY recommends that you arrive at least 1 hour in advance of your class start time. At a minimum, you must check in with the front desk no later than 45 minutes before class time. Otherwise, your spot will be released to waitlisted members who are present. Studio doors open 30 minutes before class. (You worked so hard, and the universe aligned so well for you to snag that class spot — please do not let this happen!)

Are you celebrating a milestone?

If you are still in the planning stages of your trip to Peloton Studios NY, try to plan out your classes so that you’ll have a milestone ride while in the studio! Not only are you guaranteed to get a shoutout from your instructor while in class, but you will also likely get a better position in the queue to enter class (aka better bike seating!).

Checking in at Peloton Studios NY

At the front desk, you will be asked which class you are attending and for your photo ID. If you have a milestone or if this is your first time visiting PSNY, now is the time to let them know! A staff member will give you a wristband to wear for your photo op after class (this is your ‘admission’), along with a red, black, or white card for your studio admission. Red cards are for VIP guests, black cards are for those with milestones, and white cards are for everyone else.

The doors to the studio will open approximately 30 minutes before class starts. Typically, red card holders will enter first, then black card holders, and white card holders last.

Cycle class entry

Shortly before the class doors open, a staff member will place a line divider next to the studio door. There will be three lines organized by card color. During my last visit to the studio, the lines were organized as follows: black card holders on the left side of the divider, white card holders on the right side of the divider (closest to the studio door), and red card holders grouped by the shoe rental window.

This is subject to change, however, it is helpful to know that the lines are grouped by card so you can be ready to hop in line. Even though I have been to the studio several times, I wasn’t paying attention and waited closest to the door. My card color was black, so when the line divider was placed, I was automatically on the wrong side of the line and everyone filled in quickly. Thankfully rather than getting pushed to the back of the line, a kind member saw what happened and offered to let me in. 🥹

What to bring with you to PSNY

You will need a valid form of ID on hand to check into class upon arrival. This is honestly the most important thing. If you don’t have it on you, you will not be permitted to check-in.

Aside from an ID, you may want to bring the following:

  • A water bottle (water refilling stations are available throughout the studio)
  • Money for the coffee/snack bar or for apparel
  • A book if you plan to sit in the lobby for an extended period of time prior to class, or if you have extra time in between multiple classes occurring on the same day
  • A change of clothes if you are headed out and about immediately after class
  • You can bring your cycling cleats if you prefer, however shoe rental is available on-site. I’ve never had a problem getting the size that I need.
  • Hairbrush
  • Makeup, if applicable (pun intended, haha)
  • Phone for photos around studio

Peloton Studios is equipped with personal lockers located outside of the main studio entrance doors, as well as in the locker rooms.

What to wear when visiting Peloton Studios NY

Plan to wear appropriate athletic wear depending on the type of class you’re taking. Almost all of the classes require similar attire, although you might choose a different style of pant for a yoga class vs a cycle class or running class. Feel free to message me or comment below if you’d like more thoughts on this!

Peloton encourages wearing Peloton-branded apparel during live classes. You aren’t required to do so. If you are wearing loud or obnoxious non-branded Peloton apparel, you may be moved to a different spot in class where you are less likely to be picked up on camera.

Amenities at PSNY

From your coffee and snack fix to a hot shower, Peloton Studios NY has you covered! Here is a list of amenities available at PSNY:

  • Coffee and espresso bar
  • Light snacks (think protein bars, overnight oats, bottled smoothies)
  • Hydration stations for water bottle refilling
  • Cycling cleat rental included in the cost of your class
  • Personal Lockers
  • Showers
  • Blow drying/getting ready stations complete with Dyson hair dryers
  • The women’s locker room is also equipped with hair ties, q-tips, tissues, mouthwash, tampons, and lotion in case you need something!

What to do if you see an instructor walking by at Peloton Studios

Probably don’t bum-rush them, but if they are immediately walking by you, say hello! All of the instructors are SO gracious and friendly. That’s why we love them. If they are not in the middle of something or in a rush, they may even be willing to snap a quick selfie. When saying hello, please be mindful of their time — they have important work to do! 🙂

Will I get to meet the Peloton instructor?

Yes! You will have a 60-second photo opportunity to take a photo with your instructor and chat with them after class. The studio staff members take all of the photos and then upload them into a gallery afterward for you to download.

Cycle class pro tip(s): It usually takes the instructor 5-10 minutes to come out after class wraps up. If you are in a cycle class, 38 other class members will be waiting in line for their photo op as well. So, if you are extra sweaty like me, you have time to run upstairs and blow dry the sweat in your hair and/or touch up your makeup (if applicable, there’s that pun again, haha!). You can plan on giving yourself up to 10 minutes and not be in danger of the line dissipating before then. If you do this, you’ll likely be at the end of the line. Who doesn’t like to save the best for last? 😉

If you are on the other end of the spectrum and need to get out of the studio quickly, make a beeline for the photo op line. You’ll avoid waiting for everyone else to have their photo moment and will be out of the building in no time.

If you are attending any other type of class: strength, cardio, yoga, running — you will have your photo op inside the studio immediately following class. We did take a photo out next to the Peloton logo after a row class. Regardless of where your photo op takes place, the class sizes for these modalities are much smaller compared to a cycle class — making the photo op process less complicated.

Can I bring a gift for the instructor?

You certainly can. I personally have not done this, although I’m sure they appreciate your thoughtfulness. The staff will ask that you not bring any items up to the instructor in the photo op line after class. Rather, present it to a staff member, and they will ensure that your gift makes it into the instructor’s hands. You can always tell the instructor about the gift when it’s your turn to say hello.

Will the instructor sign my copy of the book that they wrote?

Absolutely! Cody Rigsby, Emma Lovewell, Alex Toussaint, Robin Arzon, Tunde Oyeneyin and Kristin McGee all have published books available as of the time of this writing (with more in the works!).

Definitely bring your copy along with you, they will be flattered. I wasn’t going to bring my copy of XOXO, Cody to the studio #toocoolforschool, but my family and friends encouraged me to do so. I’m glad I did!
