How to get into a Peloton live class 2025

This article contains everything you need to know about successfully booking a Peloton live class in 2025.

You’re finally going to do it. After three years of riding religiously, slightly blue dot obsessed, you know everything there is to know about tactful pettiness. You walked and talked (listened?) for countless hours on Wednesday mornings, played a part in achieving Guinness book world records, picked up a few mocktail recipes, learned how to be a responsible baddie, loved more, showed up, high-fived, and pushed harder than you ever have before. We all have. You are finally going to New York City for a Peloton live class in studio.

And so is everyone else. 😬

But how do you actually get in to a live Peloton class!?

I personally attended Peloton live classes in New York City on three different occasions over the last two years, and made it in to four different classes during my most recent visit. Through trial and error, I learned ins and outs along with dos and don’ts when attempting to book live Peloton classes.

As you may know, it can be extremely difficult to get into Peloton Studios NY, unless you know exactly what to do. Peloton releases new classes on Thursdays at 12 p.m. EST for booking 6 weeks in advance of the class date.

Need a place to stay in NYC?

Arlo Midtown is a four star boutique hotel in midtown, within walking distance to Peloton Studios NY. This is my hotel of choice, so much so that they set me up with a referral code to share with my family and friends. Use code CHUCKTOWNART to save up to 40% off of your stay when you book online.

Essential steps to booking a Peloton live class

Here are tips that you NEED to know in order to get into a class, unless you happen to be the luckiest person in the world, then you probably don’t need to worry about any of this 😉

Know your target date(s)

The first step to booking a Peloton live class is to know your date(s). It may sound obvious to some, although there are definitely a breed of us who like to wing it and go with the flow from time to time. Peloton Studios NY releases live classes for booking six weeks in advance of the class date. Classes drop each Thursday at 12 p.m. EST, so mark your calendar! There are usually thousands *yes*, thousands of fellow Peloton members attempting to book classes. Without a doubt, these members will also attempt to book classes at the very same time as you. There are only so many spots in class, 39 in a cycle class to be exact. That’s not considering any of the 39 spots which may be reserved for instructor friends/family or other special guests of the studio. Thinking about taking a yoga, row, tread, or strength class? The spots available per class are much lower in these modalities. For instance, a yoga class has just seven spots available.

It helps to be flexible

When I booked my last trip to PSNY, I booked my flight and hotel in advance of booking my Peloton classes. At the time of booking, I accidentally put myself on a waitlist for a live ride with Denis. Accidentally? Yes. Accidentally, meaning I accidentally booked the class for the day before we were scheduled to arrive in New York City. Eek! Something told me I did not want to release my waitlist spot — even though I had no idea what I would do about childcare at home, changing my flight and hotel, and floating the idea by my travel buddy (hey sis) to consider adjusting her travel plans as well. Guess what? Not only did I get into class from the waitlist, but a waitlist spot opened up and my sister grabbed it. We took the Peloton live class with Denis together!

Here is a photo of Cody Rigsby, myself, and my sister Emily after our Friday night Troye Silvan ride.

If you didn’t know, although I’m pretty sure you do, all members who take a class are able to meet & greet their class instructor after the Peloton live class. You get roughly ‘one photo moment’, along with a keepsake photo which you can download via email.

This was my second time meeting Cody, and HE REMEMBERED ME. 👌

Test run before actually attempting to book a Peloton live class

Test run. Test run. Test run. This is singlehandedly the most important tip of them all. Pick a Thursday the week before or a few weeks before your actual booking week and run through the entire process from start to finish. Try to actually book a class. It won’t hurt anything and in fact it will help speed up the process for you next time.

Peloton’s booking system was recently updated, as of December 2023. In the past, Peloton offered the option to purchase class credits in advance of booking. With the system update, purchasing credits in advance is no longer available. When booking a Peloton live class in 2024, you are required to purchase the class at the time of booking. This does not include waitlist spots. (I will discuss waitlist details later in this article.)

Peloton permits cancellation up to 24 hours in advance of the class date/time. Upon cancellation, a refund will be issued back to the original form of payment. Once you’ve gone through the process from start to finish, you’ll be better equipped with familiarity and firsthand experience. You will be ready to show up and shine! Gaining understanding of the system in advance can save just enough time to make the difference between getting in to a class or not.

Research Peloton live class trends

Researching Peloton live class schedule trends is helpful for those who are hopeful on attending a specific type of class and/or class with a specific instructor. Of course there is no guarantee that the schedule will be exactly the same. The scheduling format will be similar and it will be helpful to have a general idea of where you’re aiming to go on the webpage. To get an idea, visit the Peloton Studios website and look through the current live class calendar. You may start to notice trends — for instance, Cody usually teaches a Friday night class, Alex usually teaches a Saturday afternoon, Ash Pryor has a 10:30 a.m. row class on Saturday, etc. This will allow you to get a feel for any trends with respect to instructor schedules and/or typical time slots for each modality.

Here is a screenshot of the Peloton Studios NY live class calendar, which displays the class times and instructor for each class. This image also shows the ability to filter Peloton live classes by modality and/or instructor.

Login to Peloton Studios website early

Login to your member account on the Peloton website early on the day of your live class drop. Remember, new classes drop on Thursdays at 12 p.m. Eastern time. I recommend logging in around 11 a.m., keep your screens active, and perform final checks around 11:45-11:50 a.m. so that you’ll be ready to go. At bare minimum, you’ll want to login 15 minutes in advance of the class drop, however that may not be enough time to work out last minute hiccups.

Store your payment information

Store your payment information in your account on the Peloton Studios website. For backup, you’ll want to store your payment information with Apple Pay for Apple users or Google Pay for Android users on all of your devices. When you see that gorgeous ‘Book’ button, you don’t want to be slowed down and miss out on a spot because you had to not only go find your credit card, but you also had to type it in. You may as well be standing in a parking lot, holding the door open, letting everyone else go in ahead of you. Trust me. This happened to someone I know, but I won’t name any names. Okay, it was me! Taking precious time to enter your credit card information at the time of booking will absolutely make or break a successful booking to your Peloton live class.

Utilize multiple browsers and devices

Open the Peloton Studios website on multiple browsers, on multiple tabs within each browser, and on multiple devices. I recommend at least two tabs per browser, per device. It sounds like overkill, but it’s not. This way, if one page stops responding (this also has happened to me!) you still have backups ready to go. On two occasions, I was going through the booking process, entered my credit card information, hit submit…and got the spinning wheel of death a.k.a. absolutely nothing. Luckily I had another browser open and was still able to get waitlisted. While I ultimately experienced a successful outcome, any small delay will affect your ability to book a class. Therefore, the more you can be prepared in advance, the better the odds will weigh in your favor.

Be equipped with PSNY live class website tips

Scroll ahead

Right before Thursday at 12 p.m. on release day, scroll ahead to your specific Peloton live class dates on the schedule. At the time of booking, you’ll only need to refresh the page and it should stay on that timeline. If you don’t do this, you will lose time by scrolling through six weeks worth of live class dates on the calendar. Don’t set this up more than a minute or two before the go live time, otherwise the page will entirely refresh and you’ll need to start over again.

Below you’ll see an example video showing the Peloton Studios booking system. In this example, the calendar defaults to 5/4. I scrolled ahead to 5/11 and 5/12. You can see that upon tapping the refresh arrow on my browser, the schedule remained in place on 5/12.

Utilize class filters

You can utilize filters to show only the class types you prefer. This will take all of the non-essential classes out of the mix and will definitely speed up your booking time. I personally love everything Peloton, so I didn’t filter out any classes.

In prior years, I have been to one Christine D’Ercole class, a Kendall Toole class, and a Cody Rigsby class. I got into 2/3 of these classes from waitlist positions. I am currently planning a trip back to NYC where I am currently registered for a row class with Ash Pryor, a cycle class with Denis Morton. I am also on two yoga waitlists, one with Aditi Shaw and one with Denis Morton.

Join waitlists

So you were a responsible baddie, followed each step carefully, and you still weren’t able to book a live class. What now?! Don’t sweat it amiga! You’re doing great and you still have a really good chance to attend a Peloton live class. Peloton Studios NY will allow you to book up to four classes in one week. Classes that are full but have waitlist spots available will display a button which says, ‘join waitlist’. If you see a ‘join waitlist’ button, grab it as fast as you can. There is no time to think here! Just do it. If you wind up in a class you didn’t really want to take, you can always cancel your waitlist spot without issue. Waitlists for Peloton Live classes can be promising, especially if you join the waitlist early on, especially for cycle classes! Live cycle classes at PSNY seat 39 members, which means chances are good for waitlist spots to open up. I have personally attended a live studio ride which stemmed from a waitlist spot more than once.

You can only book up to four classes in one week at Peloton Studios, and waitlist spots DO count towards this total. No payment is taken upfront when you join a waitlist, rather payment is made after you are moved into a class. If a spot opens up in a class you are waitlisted for, Peloton Studios NY will email you with an offer to join the class, at which time you will need to make a payment to confirm your Peloton live class booking. Important! Peloton only gives members a two hour window to accept a class spot by entering credit card information to purchase your class. Some blogs state otherwise, however you won’t be able to book more than four waitlist or actual class spots in one week. There was a short period of time after the system update where this was true, however it is no longer the case. Each class that you book in the system counts towards the maximum allowed, regardless of whether the booking is a confirmed class or a waitlisted class.

Check the Peloton live class schedule regularly

Maybe you were able to book a Peloton live class with Kendall, but you also had your eye on a class with Alex. Maybe you didn’t book a class at all during the class release for your dates. Maybe you just want to book as many Peloton classes as you can, because that’s the reason for your trip to New York City, after all. My advice here is to watch the Peloton Studios website regularly. By regularly, I mean at least 3x a day, or more. 😬 I say this because members are releasing spots all the time, and the spots get filled again just as quickly as they were released. If you keep an eye on the system throughout the day, you are more likely to grab another waitlist spot, which can then turn into a Peloton live class spot.

Three out of four of the Peloton live classes I attended on my last trip to NYC were the result of being moved into class from a waitlisted spot. During that visit, I attended a row class with Ash Pryor, a ride with Denis followed by a ride with Cody (on the same night!), and a yoga class with Denis. I was moved into the yoga class off of the waitlist, so don’t get discouraged by the small class size if you are waitlisted. Anything can happen!

Keep researching!

Quite obviously, I suggest being as prepared as possible before you attempt to book your Peloton live class. It also helps to be prepared before you actually visit the studio in NYC. Check out Peloton Studios NY FAQ here.

If you have questions for Peloton Studios, email studiosny@onepeloton.com. They will respond, however it sometimes takes a few days to hear back from them. Try to avoid emailing emergency questions as you may not receive the information when you need it.
