A list of midtown restaurants NYC or establishments within walkable distance to midtown.
If you are looking for the best midtown restaurants NYC, I’ve got a good starting list for you! These restaurants have been personally visited by us after scouring tons of reviews, the good, the bad, and the ugly. If I have not eaten at a restaurant listed here, please know that I have diligently researched reviews prior to recommending the midtown restaurant here. If you visit any of these places, or have visited them, I would love to know your thoughts in the comments below!
While some locals will tell you to stay away from midtown restaurants in NYC entirely and visit lesser trafficked neighborhoods or boroughs, the fact is that many travelers come in from all over the world and want to see iconic NYC sights — many of which are in and around midtown NYC. It makes sense to stay close by, and it also makes sense to eat in and around where you will be enjoying your time. There are plenty of phenomenal places to eat within walking distance of many attractions in midtown Manhattan. This list has no real rhyme or reason on cuisine type, rather, it features a variety of great restaurants in midtown NYC. I will try to sort them by type as best as possible!

But first, coffee
Per Google’s AI overview, 75% of Americans drink coffee regularly versus only 25% who drink tea regularly. So, let’s start here! You’re going to need a little caffeinated jumpstart to your day. Exploring NYC is definitely more of a fast-paced, exciting adventure than it is a leisurely vacation. Check out my post on coffee shops around midtown here.
Healthy eateries near midtown NYC
Fresh From Hell
Location: 326 W 47th St, New York, NY
Neighborhood: Hell’s Kitchen
Website: http://www.freshfromhell.com/#home
Reservations: No
Menu: Açai bowls, smoothies, fresh-squeezed juice, sprouted bagels, oatmeal

Whether you’re looking for a healthy breakfast option or a light midday snack, Fresh From Hell is my absolute favorite place to eat in Manhattan. Their juices, smoothies, and açai bowls are made from scratch with fresh ingredients daily. In fact, everything is made to order! Their juices are never bottled, and even their almond and coconut milk are freshly made in-house each day. You cannot go wrong with any of their menu items, everything they offer is out of this world! The interior is small and cozy, there are 2-3 high-top tables available and a few countertop window seats available.
Orders can be placed in advance for pickup, and delivery is available in certain areas. I have had Fresh From Hell delivered to two different hotels, Park Central Hotel and Arlo Midtown. If you know you’re going to want something first thing in the morning, you can even order the night before and schedule ahead for delivery in the morning. Pro tip: If you join their email list, they will send you periodic coupons to enjoy a percentage off your next order. I go to NYC enough that I can usually take advantage of a treat in my inbox.

Jajaja Mexicana
Location: 450 W 33rd Street, New York, NY 10001
Neighborhood: Hudson Yards
Website: https://www.jajajamexicana.com/hudson-yards-ny-ny
Reservations: Not at this location (Reservations are available at their West Village, Lower East Side, and Williamsburg locations)
Menu: Plant-based Mexican Cuisine
As crazy as it sounds, I actually found Jajaja Mexicana on ClassPass. I am not a vegan or plant-based eater, although I do appreciate a good plant-based meal. To be completely honest, I had NO IDEA that I was eating a vegan dish the first time I had Jajaja Mexicana. I actually didn’t find out that all of their offerings were vegan until the second time I ate there, months later. So if you’re usually hesitant to go for vegan options, this is a great place to try. Jajaja Mexicana is nestled inside Whole Foods on the second floor, at the far end past the hot bar. The employees are super friendly, and I’ve never had trouble finding a table or countertop seat to dine-in.

Need a place to stay in NYC?
Arlo Midtown is a four star boutique hotel in midtown, within walking distance to Peloton Studios NY. This is my hotel of choice, so much so that they set me up with a referral code to share with my family and friends. Use code CHUCKTOWNART to save up to 40% off of your stay when you book online.
Pizza and pasta midtown restaurants NYC
There’s nothing like hitting up some great NYC pizza or comforting Italian dishes before you sit down for an amazing Broadway play. If reservations are available, you will most definitely want to reserve a table in advance, allowing plenty of time for your meal, plus walk time to your destination. I recommend allowing at least one hour for dinner, plus walk time, and arriving to your venue 30 minutes in advance.
John’s Pizzeria of Times Square
Location: 260 W 44th St, New York, NY 10036
Neighborhood: Midtown
Website: https://www.johnspizzerianyc.com
Reservations: Only available for parties of 15 or more
Menu: Pizza, pasta, salads, and sandwiches

There is a little of something for everyone at John’s Pizzeria of Times Square in Midtown NYC. We split a pizza, and my son ate the Fettuccini Alfredo. We loved everything and would definitely go back again. The ambiance is boisterous and busy, it really feels like you are in the heart of NYC, which is really a fun experience. We sat upstairs and really enjoyed the cathedral-style dome ceiling and interior lighting as well.
While reservations aren’t available for smaller groups, John’s Pizzeria is a very large restaurant. Plan ahead with ample time to navigate a waitlist if necessary. We walked in for dinner prior to seeing Harry Potter and the Cursed Child on Broadway. We were quoted a wait time of 45 minutes, and ended up only waiting 10-15 minutes (this worked out in our favor because I did not plan accordingly!) 🙂

Angelo’s Coal Oven Pizzeria
Location: 117 W 57th St, New York, NY 10001
Neighborhood: Midtown
Website: https://angelospizzany.com/menus/
Reservations: No
Menu: Pizza, pasta, salads, deserts
Angelo’s is a two-story pizzeria in midtown NYC, just two blocks away from Central Park. We enjoyed our pizza, the crust is crispy and flavorful. (There is nothing worse than a soggy slice IMO.) We especially loved the Angelo’s Chips appetizer (zuchinni and eggplant chips with garlic yogurt dip). It was awesome to find a unique appetizer to try. We would definitely eat here again!

Tony’s Di Napoli
Location: 147 West 43rd Street, New York, NY 10036
Neighborhood: Midtown
Website: https://www.tonysnyc.com
Reservations: Yes
Menu: Family-style Italian, pasta, chicken, veal, steak, seafood, and specialty dishes
Tony’s Di Napoli is a great option for midtown restaurants NYC, especially for theatregoers. The restaurant is within walking distance to many Broadway shows. They are open until 11 p.m. from Tuesday-Saturday and until 10 p.m. on Sunday and Monday. If you need a pre-show dinner, late-night bite, or dessert, Tony’s is a good option. With over 18,000 reviews on Open Table, and receiving a 4.8 rating out of 5, you know you can’t go wrong here. One reviewer said:
“Our last night spent at Tony’s Di Napoli, what a treat! The service, food, ambiance and people made it a memorable night. Thank you!!”
Capizzi
Location: 547 9th Ave, New York, NY 10018
Neighborhood: Midtown West
Website: https://capizzinyc.com
Reservations: No
Menu: Wood fired pizza, salad, and desserts
Capizzi is a family-owned authentic Italian restaurant with wood fired pizza. The crust was cooked to perfection, and you can taste the quality in the toppings! We ordered the loaded pizza, although I can’t remember if we requested modifications. The pizza we enjoyed was topped with fresh basil, which is not listed on the menu as a topping for this pizza (so you may want to ask when ordering!).

Mediterranean
Omar’s Mediterranean Cuisine
Location: 20 East 39th Street, New York, NY 10016
Neighborhood: Midtown
Website: https://omars.nyc
Reservations: No
Menu: Mediterranean charcoal grill (chicken, lamb), salads, falafel, tabouli, baba ganousgh, hummus, baklava
I have not personally visited this restaurant yet, however their website boasts that customers line up outside daily starting at 11:15 a.m. to get their hands on the chicken shawarma, served with two sides on a platter or placed inside a warm pita. One reviewer online said:
“So much flavor in every bite and the service was impeccable. The food was fresh and tasted delicious! What really impressed my friends and I the most was the level of service. Isidro, who goes by, “Chile.” Made us feel like we were having a family dinner at home. So much warmth, attention to detail, and went far and beyond to make our party feel welcomed! I can’t recommend enough!”
Other reviewers confirmed that Omar’s Mediterranean Cuisine is mostly a takeout place, there are only a few stools available for seating inside.
Hummus Kitchen
Location: 768 9th Ave.,New York, NY 10019
Neighborhood: Hell’s Kitchen
Website: https://hummuskitchen.com
Reservations: Yes
Menu: Hummus, Mediterranean tacos, wraps, salads, platters

Menu: Hummus Kitchen is a must try for lunch or dinner if you’re looking for quality restaurants while in NYC. The hummus is made fresh daily and served warm. While plenty of seating is available, the restaurant is on the smaller side. I would highly recommend making a reservation to ensure your spot, regardless of time of day. I personally loved the falafel and plan to go back to try the shwarma!
Asian cuisine midtown restaurants NYC

Hey Yuet
Location: 251 W 26th St, New York, NY 10001
Neighborhood: Chelsea
Website: https://www.heyyuet.com
Reservations: Yes
Menu: Traditional Cantonese and Dim Sum
Where do I start, other than by telling you that Hey Yuet is drool-worthy? My sister recommended this restaurant, excited for authentic Dim Sum. We started by sharing the soup dumplings, I’m pretty sure she was moaning the entire time she ate them. They were delectable to say the least. I also really enjoyed the beef filet with Chinese broccoli!
Sei Less
Location: 156 W 38th St, New York, NY 10018
Neighborhood: Midtown
Website: https://www.seiless.com
Reservations: Yes
Menu: Diverse Asian fusion
I brought my tweenage sons to Sei Less in Midtown NYC for the spring rolls and lo mein noodles, which they loved! The atmosphere was quiet and upscale. The restaurant was seemingly empty, however we did eat an early dinner at 5:30 p.m. I ordered the filet mignon & broccoli, which didn’t look too appealing and was just okay — not worth the $39 price tag. While this restaurant was not my personal favorite, Sei Less made this list because the lo mein was flavorful and because my son requests that we visit again. He is a very picky eater, so that is saying something!

Indian Cuisine Midtown NYC
Patiala Indian Grill
Location: 371 W 34th Street, New York, NY 10001 (casual dining), 240 West 35th Street
New York, NY 10001 (fine dining with bar)
Neighborhood: Midtown
Website: https://www.patialany.com
Reservations: Reservations are only available at the 35th St location, 34th St
Menu: Modern Indian dishes from North and South India
Patiala is a modern Indian eatery featuring dishes from both North and South India. They offer a little something for everyone, including a variety of gluten-free, vegetarian and vegan dishes. The chicken tika masala and the naan are both out of this world. This is the type of place where you wish you could try everything on the menu. I wrote a review on Google as soon as we finished eating, stating that I would eat here every day if I could, which still holds true today. I cannot wait to go back!

Midtown NYC Brazilian Cuisine
Berimbau Restaurant NYC

Location: 3 West 36th Street, New York, NY 10018
Neighborhood: Midtown
Website: https://www.berimbaunyc.com
Reservations: Yes
Menu: Authentic modern Brazilian cuisine and cocktails
Berimbau Brazilian Restaurant has locations in both Midtown and West Village. I have been to both! The yucca fries are a must, as are the coxinha (chicken croquettes). Berimbau makes some pretty great cocktails, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic. Cody Rigsby of Peloton actually tagged this restaurant in his Instagram stories once, which is how I ‘found’ it. We later chatted about Berimbau in person, and he claims it’s the best Brazilian food he’s had outside of traveling to Brazil. That is saying something!
