This is a list of highly-rated coffee shops near Midtown NYC.
Coffee is a very important component to ramping up for a full day of fun around NYC. Here are some great options for coffee shops near midtown NYC, whether you are looking for a place to sit for a while or grabbing some joe on the go. I have been to some of these coffee shops, and otherwise have searched the internet high and low for the best-rated coffee shops that offer quality coffee, quality service, and a pleasing atmosphere.

Cafe at Altair
Location: 351 W 38th St, New York, NY 10018
Neighborhood: Midtown NYC
Website: https://arlohotels.com/midtown/eat-and-drink/cafe/
Menu: Espresso, matcha, muffins, pastries, grab and go items (chips, granola bars, water, cold drinks), candy, and chocolate
Cafe at Altair is a coffee and pastry shop located within Arlo Midtown, an award-winning boutique hotel in midtown NYC. In the seven times that I’ve stayed in NYC over the last three years, I’ve stayed at Arlo Midtown on five of those occasions — which means we have had our fair share of coffee at the Cafe at Altair. There is only one high-top table in the actual coffee shop area, however there is a lot of cozy, comfortable seating around the first-floor lobby area of Arlo Midtown.
It is hard to find online reviews on the Cafe at Altair because it is nestled inside of Arlo Midtown. However, I promise this is a great spot for a quality cup of Joe or tea and a snack.
Frisson Espresso 44

Location: 405 W 44th Street, New York, NY 10036
Neighborhood: Hell’s Kitchen, walkable to/from Midtown
Website: https://frissonespresso.co
Menu: Espresso, tea, matcha, pastries, breakfast sandwiches, overnight oats
One of the best coffee shops near midtown NYC is right here! Complete with beautiful latte art. This is a tiny coffee shop off of the beaten path in Hell’s Kitchen. Perfect for grab and go, or there are a few tables inside if you’re looking for a quiet place to sit. The employees are friendly and welcoming. I brought my pre-teen sons along with me for a stop at Frisson on our way to Central Park from Midtown. They bonded with the barista over anime while he crafted delightful cups of hot chocolate for them. Also loved finding ourselves in a place that Jason Mraz frequents while in NYC!

Matchaful Cafe
Location: 450 W 33rd St, New York, NY 10001
Neighborhood: Hudson Yards
Website: https://www.matchaful.com/pages/cafes
Menu: Creative matcha lattes, espresso, house-made pastries (most are vegan!), oats, parfaits, smoothies
Okay, so matcha is the name of the cafe but don’t be fooled! You can also find a great cup of coffee or espresso here. Perfect for a tea connoisseur or the occasional tea lover (me), Matchaful Cafe offers single-origin ceremonial grade made-to-order matcha from Japan. The hand-crafted drinks made at Matchaful Cafe are delightful! I stop here whenever I go to Peloton Studios, which is next door. Matchaful Cafe is located right inside Whole Foods Market on the bottom floor. If you’d prefer to stay in, they offer local delivery for a $3.99 delivery charge.
Angelina Bakery

Location: 575 8th Ave, New York, NY 10018 (Hell’s Kitchen)
1675 Broadway, New York, NY 10019 (Times Square)
Neighborhood: Times Square or Hell’s Kitchen
Website: https://angelinabakery.com
Menu: Coffee, tea, lattes, doughnuts (bombolones), pastries, croissants, focaccia and pizza, pasta, cold plates, sandwiches, paninis, salads, cakes, gelato, desserts (some menu items are only available at the Times Square location, so please check the website before planning your visit)
Angelina Bakery is a great spot if you’re looking to treat yourself to a decadent doughnut. We grew up eating whipped cream and Boston cream-filled eclairs. Maybe I’m not looking hard enough, but it’s hard to find a quality cream-filled doughnut these days. While bombolones aren’t eclairs, they are even better. I personally would spring for the pistachio or chantilly cream bombolones. I have not yet enjoyed the savory menu options, but definitely plan on returning!
Masseria Caffe
Location: 235 W 48th St, New York, NY 10036
Neighborhood: Midtown
Website: https://www.masseriacaffe.com
Menu: Italian coffee, croissants, paninis, salads, pasta, soup of the day, traditional Italian sweets
A great stop in the morning or afternoon, Masseria prides themselves on their quality Italian coffee, homemade pastries, freshly baked bread, and homemade dressings. Patrons love that Masseria uses ceramic mugs versus paper cups for seating in-house. One Google reviewer said, “I loved this cafe. Literally the best of New York, the cornettos were heavenly. And the coffee tasted the same as in Rome.”
Ramini Espresso and Cafe
Location: 265 W 37th St, New York, NY 10018
Neighborhood: Midtown
Website: https://www.instagram.com/ramini.espresso.bar
Menu: Espresso, Kyoto slow drip coffee, Chemex pour-over coffee, loose leaf tea, croissants, muffins, lentil soup
I have not personally been here yet, but I cannot wait to try Ramini on our next visit! One Google reviewer said, “Don’t hesitate! if you come here you’ll get gorgeous cup of coffee in the garment district. Ridiculously delicious fresh-baked pastries everyday. Family owned and operated, Ramini’s is the kind of business that makes New York City so special!”

Neighborhood: Midtown
Website: https://www.instagram.com/arvacicoffee
