What should I wear to my headshot photography session in Charleston SC?

First and foremost, it is important to be completely comfortable in whatever you decide to wear. With that being said, I do have a few recommendations:

• Solid colors will always photograph with more crispness than a busy pattern. Solid colors will also bring focus to you versus your clothing.
• Wear long sleeves or 3/4 sleeves. Yes, I know it’s hotter than Hades here in the summer. Still, unless you are a fitness instructor or yoga instructor (where it makes sense to dress in a tank top), long sleeves will always look more professional.
• For bottoms, you’ll want to wear dress pants, a skirt, or a dress. While it is a headshot session, it is possible to incorporate shots from the waist up and/or even do a full-length shot for variation.

Just like with any suggestion, it’s just a suggestion. You should always wear what you feel suits you, even if that is a wild pattern. Maybe wild patterns are your personal trademark. Go for it!

As a headshot photographer in Charleston, SC, can you help with location ideas?

Absolutely! Spend some time thinking about the aesthetic feel that you’d like to incorporate into your personal headshot photography. Downtown Charleston, with historic buildings as a backdrop is always a great option. A marsh scene (pictured at the top of this page) is great for highlighting expertise in the Lowcountry. Can we do more than one location?

Always, yes. The company headshot package includes up to two locations (within walking distance of one another). Individual headshot sessions include one location. We can always add on time and a second location, or a location further away, for an additional fee.

I need a headshot to include in my email signature. Can you help with image sizing?

This is not automatically included with your session, however if you need an email signature specific size—just let me know! I’m happy to include resizing one image for you at no additional charge.

What can I expect after my session?

After your session, I will spend time editing your images and refining your gallery selections. As your headshot photographer in Charleston, SC, I review and edit every single image individually and work through the process myself. I do not use the help of AI or a third party. I take great pride in working on your gallery after the session!

When your photos are ready, I’ll send you a gallery access link and an email with instructions regarding navigating the selection process within the gallery.

You will have the opportunity to choose your favorite images in the gallery. Many photographers will select final images for you, without allowing you to make your own selections. I believe in the power of choice, and recognize that you may have a different opinion about which images you love the best. You will always get the final say!

How long does it take to get my headshot images back?

The editing process can take up to three weeks. Of course, I will always get them back to you sooner if possible. Have a rush request? Please let me know when booking your session, and I will do my best to accommodate your request.
